Baseball Game Preview: Maple Hill Wildcats vs. Hudson Bluehawks

The Maple Hill Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Hudson Bluehawks at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Maple Hill is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Maple Hill let Cairo-Durham stack four runs on them in the seventh inning on Monday but luckily Maple Hill prevailed anyway. The Wildcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mustangs, sneaking past 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted against the Mustangs since March 29, 2018.

Meanwhile, while Hudson put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Rensselaer. The Bluehawks put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Bluehawks haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Hudson got a massive performance out of Eli Conte, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, Conte posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Joe Simmons, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Maple Hill pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hudson, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
