Independence entered their tilt with Western Reserve Academy on Monday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They came out on top against the Pioneers by a score of 10-6. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-2 back in April.

Independence got a great performance from Ryan Suhy as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Suhy has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Independence let Owen Jenks and Anderson Jolliffe run wild. Jenks got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Jolliffe went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Jenks has posted since back in April. Johnny Walsh also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Independence hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive games.

Independence's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Western Reserve Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Independence will welcome Wickliffe at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Independence's pitchers better be ready for this one: Wickliffe has averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Western Reserve Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kiski School at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
