Softball Recap: Commerce Comes Up Short

After flying high against Springfield Renaissance on Monday, Commerce came back down to earth. The Red Raiders lost 29-7 to the Belchertown Orioles on Tuesday. The Red Raiders haven't had much luck with the Orioles recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Vanessa Rios made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Janiya Garcia also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Commerce's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Belchertown, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Coming up, Commerce will venture away from home to take on Putnam Vo-Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Belchertown will be paying especially close attention to the Red Raiders' matchup: after the Red Raiders face off against the Beavers, they'll take on Belchertown again at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
