Football Recap: Irvin Comes Up Short

Irvin lost against Ysleta back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Rockets lost 42-21 to the Indians. The Rockets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.

Although Irvin took the loss, they still got scores from Julian Chacon, Angel Valenzuela, and Marcos Gonzalez.

A big part of Ysleta's win came down to the chemistry between Rodrigo Martinez and his top target Silas Thomas. Martinez threw for 301 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per attempt while Thomas picked up 127 receiving yards and four TDs. Those four receiving touchdowns gave Thomas a new career-high.

This is the second loss in a row for Irvin and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for Ysleta, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Dallas Medina and Jesus Martinez. Meanwhile, Ysleta is set to face off against their familiar foe Riverside at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Rodrigo and Carlos Rojas III.
