Luling picked up another tournament win on Thursday. Everything went their way against the St. Paul Cardinals as the Luling Eagles made off with a 14-5 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by nine runs or more this season.
Nedeyin Magallanez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had over her last five games. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
In other batting news, Serenity Nunez was incredible, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. She has been hot recently, having also posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Stevie West also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Luling now has a winning record of 8-7. As for St. Paul, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.
Coming up, Luling will take on Flatonia in a tournament on Saturday. As for St. Paul, they will be taking part in a tournament against Yoakum at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.
