Softball Recap: Magnet Cove Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Magnet Cove, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Bismarck Lions with a sharp 8-1 win on Friday. Considering the Panthers have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Tayla Tanaka made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Tanaka was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Magnet Cove let Mailynn Tanaka and Jordan Amerson run wild. Tanaka went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Amerson went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave Amerson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Herrington, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Magnet Cove's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bismarck, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

Magnet Cove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bismarck, they will challenge Harmony Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
