Football Recap: Montclair Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Montclair extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 2-4. They had to suffer through a 39-7 loss at the hands of the Canyon Springs Cougars. The Cavaliers were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Damien Pacheco threw for 96 yards and one touchdown. Nicholas Valdez was his top target, picking up 38 receiving yards. On the ground, Abraham Gil rushed for 50 yards.

As for Canyon Springs, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.6 points on average this season.

Canyon Springs got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Angel Robles out in front who threw for 217 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 30 yards. That's the most passing yards Robles has posted since back in October of 2024. Canyon Springs' leading receiver Eyan Quinones was Robles' top target yet again, picking up 134 receiving yards and one score.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Montclair will head out to face off against San Gorgonio at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last. As for Canyon Springs, they are taking a road trip to take on Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The contest will give the Cougars their first taste of in-conference action this season.
