Football Recap: Lake Braddock Bruins vs. Fairfax Lions
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lake Braddock had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They strolled past the Fairfax Lions with points to spare, taking the game 40-25. The victory was nothing new for the Bruins as they're now sitting on ten straight.
Payton Holmes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 92 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Jt Bordeaux was another key back, rushing for 119 yards and a touchdown.
Lake Braddock didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Camden Gallant, Matthew Holcomb, and Elisha Oladipo picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Fairfax's side was Trent Pane, who picked up a sack and made 11 total tackles (5.0 for loss).
Lake Braddock pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.7 points per game. As for Fairfax, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-4 record.
