Soccer Game Preview: Irvin vs. Riverside

The Irvin Rockets will challenge the Riverside Rangers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Irvin's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Irvin's offense. They lost 8-0 to San Elizario on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 717th in Texas, while the Eagles are ranked 260th in Texas).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverside). They never let Mountain View get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Tuesday. The score was close at the half, but the Rangers pulled away in the second half with five goals.

Riverside's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-10. As for Irvin, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.
