Football Recap: Noah Strickland and Jaiden Hill Pace Shadow Mountain Defense

Shadow Mountain lost against Dysart back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Matadors lost 40-14 to the Demons. The Matadors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-14.

Although Shadow Mountain took the loss, they still got scores from Isaac Ungor and Asher Kendall.

Shadow Mountain didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Noah Strickland and Jaiden Hill. Hill has become a key player for Shadow Mountain: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least one interception, but 1-3 otherwise. The Matadors received some extra help from Ungor, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Dysart's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jevon Christmas, who picked up 54 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 102 yards on only ten carries. Christmas got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 56 yards. Another passer making a difference was Josiah Laborin, who threw for 190 yards and three TDs.

This is the second loss in a row for Shadow Mountain and nudges their season record down to 3-4. As for Dysart, their record is now an identical 3-4.

Looking ahead, Shadow Mountain will be playing at home against Florence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Dysart, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Kingman at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
