Softball Recap: Northampton Comes Up Short

Northampton extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-4. They lost 17-1 to the Broadwater Academy Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-1 last Wednesday.

Northampton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Dinwiddie, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Broadwater Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games.

On Broadwater Academy's side, Carly Clayton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Clayton has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adrianna Holloway, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Kacey Ford, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.

Coming up, Northampton will welcome Northumberland at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Broadwater Academy, they will take on Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
