Spring Hill is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will square off against the Coffee County Central Red Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Tuesday, everything went Spring Hill's way against Santa Fe as Spring Hill made off with a 12-6 win. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.
Ellie Oakes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Oakes was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hailey Lippert, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Lilly Yayah was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.
Meanwhile, Coffee County Central got the win against Siegel on Tuesday by a conclusive 10-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Raiders.
Like Spring Hill, Coffee County Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Lily Norman. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Norman has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Maggie Montgomery was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Bailey Hale also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Coffee County Central pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Spring Hill, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Spring Hill suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Coffee County Central in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Spring Hill avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
