Baseball Game Preview: San Clemente Tritons vs. Mission Viejo Diablos

For the second straight game, San Clemente will face off against Mission Viejo. The Tritons will be playing at home against the Diablos at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (San Clemente has eight straight wins, Mission Viejo has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

San Clemente came out on top against Mission Viejo on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run second inning. The Tritons took their match against the Diablos 9-4.

Sean Chetakian tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched.

At the plate, San Clemente saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joaquim Baumgardner, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Barrett Wood was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

San Clemente hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mission Viejo struck out 11 times.

San Clemente pushed their record up to 14-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mission Viejo, their loss dropped their record down to 11-13.
