Northern Michigan Christian is still undefeated this season after their game against Mesick on Monday, but Mesick came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Northern Michigan Christian Comets came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mesick Bulldogs, sneaking past 51-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Comets have posted since February 20, 2024.

Mesick lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Madi Putney, who on her way to 27 points and six rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Cassie Sexton, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine assists.

Northern Michigan Christian pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points over those games. As for Mesick, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northern Michigan Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Calvary Baptist Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mesick, they and Traverse City Christian will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played.
