Baseball Recap: Lake Charles College Prep Wins Going Away Against Tara

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lake Charles College Prep had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Tara Trojans with a sharp 17-2 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-2 on Friday.

Dylan Vital made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Chance Joubert was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chrisian Burgos, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Lake Charles College Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Lake Charles College Prep and bumps their season record up to 15-17. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Tara, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-8.
