Softball Recap: Klahowya Comes Up Short

Klahowya dropped their record down to 8-9-1 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Central Kitsap Cougars by a score of 1-0. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Klahowya saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mckenna Sullivan, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

As for Central Kitsap, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games.

On Central Kitsap's side, Coral Howell tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alex Berg, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Coming up, Klahowya is taking a road trip to face off against Chimacum at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cowboys have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.18 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Central Kitsap, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Thurston at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
