Basketball Recap: Mapleton's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

It was a good run, but Mapleton unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 42-29 to the Southwest Christian Wildcats. The match marked the Sailors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Mapleton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lucie Burruss posted 13 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Burruss is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Abbi Mendez Galvan, who put up five points.

Mapleton's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Southwest Christian, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mapleton will host McKenzie at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mapleton is facing McKenzie at the right time seeing as McKenzie is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. Southwest Christian has already played their next game (against North Clackamas Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
