Soccer Game Preview: King City vs. Palma

The King City Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the Palma Chieftains at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

King City is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Salinas on Tuesday. King City fell just short of Salinas by a score of 1-0. The shutout was out of character for the Mustangs seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, Palma came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.3 goals) and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Pirates onto the board and left with a 1-0 win. That's two games straight that the Chieftains have won by just one goal.

King City's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 7-4. As for Palma, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3.
