Softball Recap: Lower Cape May Tigers vs. Wildwood Catholic Crusaders
Lower Cape May had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 4-13 to make it five. They lost 22-11 to the Wildwood Catholic Crusaders. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, with their most recent loss being a 14-3 defeat back in April.
As for Wildwood Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The result was nothing new for Wildwood Catholic, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.
For Wildwood Catholic's part, Julia Wallace was a standout: she got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. What's more, Wallace posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Cara Millard, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lower Cape May will venture away from home to challenge Buena at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wildwood Catholic, they will head out to take on Bridgeton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
