Baseball Game Preview: Leo Lions vs. De La Salle Meteors

For the second straight game, Leo will face off against De La Salle. The Lions will be playing at home against the Meteors at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Leo is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.

On Friday, Leo came up short against De La Salle and fell 5-2.

For De La Salle's part, Beckett Hulten spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. Hulten also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Meteors are 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-20 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Francisco Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. He has become a key player for De La Salle: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least one home run, but 6-20 otherwise.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: De La Salle lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.

De La Salle pushed their record up to 9-21 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Leo, their loss dropped their record down to 7-19.
