Basketball Recap: Danville Christian Academy Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, the Danville Christian Academy Warriors were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 55-54 to the Lexington Catholic Knights.

Despite the loss, Danville Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Leek Ateny, who went 6-for-15 on his way to 15 points and eight boards. The dominant performance also gave Ateny a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Titus Boyd, who posted 12 points and five assists.

Even though they lost, Danville Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

Danville Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 23-3. As for Lexington Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season.

Danville Christian Academy will square off against McCreary Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. McCreary Central will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Danville Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lexington Catholic, they will venture away from home to challenge Lincoln County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
