Baseball Game Preview: Houston County Lions vs. Dale County Warriors

Houston County is 1-9 against Dale County since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Houston County Lions will host the Dale County Warriors at 5:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Houston County didn't have quite enough to beat Daleville and fell 6-5.

Houston County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emarion Jackson, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, Jackson posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Martrez Allen also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Dale County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Slocomb 4-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Dale County's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Houston County, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Houston County suffered a grim 20-1 defeat to Dale County in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Houston County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
