Baseball Recap: Malden Green Wave vs. Neelyville Tigers
Malden had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-12 to make it 13. They lost 15-5 to the Neelyville Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-3 last Saturday.
As for Neelyville, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-10. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For Neelyville's part, Zak Cowley was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Cowley a new career-high. Hixon Layton also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Coming up, Malden will be playing at home against South Pemiscot at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. As for Neelyville, they will head out on the road to challenge Clearwater at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
