Basketball Recap: Somerset College Prep Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Tradition Prep

Somerset College Prep Academy scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 73-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tradition Prep Pirates. The defeat continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now lost five in a row.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lenz Constant, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds. What's more, Constant also racked up two assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Geovanny Martinez was another key player, going 6 of 12 en route to 16 points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Somerset College Prep Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tradition Prep only pulled down 14 offensive boards.

Tradition Prep was led to victory by Aydan Fields and Ethan Chevres. Fields dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds, while Chevres dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 11 boards, and ten assists. Fields' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nick Dunphy, who posted 13 points and four blocks.

Somerset College Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Tradition Prep, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7.

Somerset College Prep Academy will take on Frostproof on Wednesday. Frostproof is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season. Tradition Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
