Softball Recap: Smithfield Sentinels vs. Chariho Chargers        
        
		
            
 Smithfield came into Tuesday's   matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Chariho Chargers  a   6-0 shutout  on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Smithfield also won the last time the pair played  back in May of 2023.
  Crystal Cacador spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered  just zero earned runs on two hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven  strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Lily Riggin, who  went 2-for-4 with a  home run, three  RBI,  and a  double. The team also got some help courtesy of  Madison Kennedy, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-4.
 On Chariho's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Maddie Dorgan, who  went 1-for-3 with a  triple.
 Smithfield's win  ended  a  four-game drought on the road  dating back to last season and  puts them at 2-3. As for Chariho, they are  on  a  six-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 1-6.
 Smithfield will head out on the road to  challenge  Cranston West at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. Cranston West will roll in looking for their  fifth straight  victory, something Smithfield surely won't give up without a fight. As for Chariho, they will head out on the road to  face off against  East Providence at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Chariho is facing East Providence at the right time seeing as East Providence is stuck on  a  four-game losing streak.
