Baseball Recap: Indian River Braves vs. Great Bridge Wildcats

Indian River extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-11 in the process. They came up short against the Great Bridge Wildcats, falling 16-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 back in April.

Kalvin Murphy made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Elias Rivera also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for Great Bridge, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-5. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Great Bridge's side, Adam Bartley was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, eight RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs Bartley has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxen Whitehurst, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Coming up, Indian River will challenge Oscar Smith at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Great Bridge, they will square off against Kempsville at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 2.7, the Chiefs 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
