Baseball Recap: Somerset Berkley Regional Beats Dighton-Rehoboth Regional for Their Seventh Straight Victory

Somerset Berkley Regional had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional Falcons. This was a revenge game for the Raiders: when they faced off against the Falcons back in April, they had to take a 10-9 loss.

Somerset Berkley Regional let Ryan Crook and Jayden Cruz run wild. Crook went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Cruz got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Cruz has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Sherman Jr., who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Somerset Berkley Regional pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Dighton-Rehoboth Regional, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-4.

Somerset Berkley Regional and Dighton-Rehoboth Regional should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings. The Raiders will challenge Old Rochester Regional at 3:45 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (40 vs. 176). Meanwhile, Dighton-Rehoboth Regional (ranked 33rd) will meet Apponequet Regional (ranked 134th) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
