Basketball Recap: Jefferson Takes a Loss

Jefferson and Seagoville squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Jefferson had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 70-43 loss at the hands of the Seagoville Dragons. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1243rd, while the Dragons are ranked 398th).

Seagoville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Twone Long, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Long a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Travion Hall, who posted 16 points and seven rebounds.

Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 8-18. As for Seagoville, they pushed their record up to 21-14 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Seagoville, they will take on Ellison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ellison knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matches -- so hopefully Seagoville likes a good challenge.
