Basketball Game Preview: Mountain View Wildcats vs. Brooke Point Black Hawks

Mountain View is 2-8 against Brooke Point since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 6:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Mountain View turned things around against Oakland Mills last Saturday. They put the hurt on the Scorpions with a sharp 68-48 win. The contest marked the Wildcats' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Meanwhile, Brooke Point humbled Hylton with an 81-52 victory. Given the Black Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 382nd), the result last Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brooke Point has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points per game. As for Mountain View, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.

Mountain View came up short against Brooke Point in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 54-43. Thankfully for Mountain View, Yanis Youbi (who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
