Softball Recap: Shawnee Triumphs

Shawnee posted their closest victory since March 27th on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Marion Local Flyers. This was payback for the Indians, who suffered a 6-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Anna Menke, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyla Rosas, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Shawnee is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Marion Local, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Looking ahead, Shawnee is taking a road trip to face off against Bath at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marion Local, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Parkway at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
