Basketball Game Preview: Walsenburg Panthers vs. Swink Lions

Walsenburg and Swink are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Walsenburg Panthers face off against the Swink Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.

On Tuesday, Walsenburg was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-42 to La Veta.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Adrian Vallejos, who posted 17 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Eccher, who put up eight points along with six boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Swink came up short against Swallows Charter Academy on Tuesday and fell 63-54.

Walsenburg's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Swink, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-8.

Everything went Walsenburg's way against Swink in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as Walsenburg made off with a 76-54 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Walsenburg since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
