Football Recap: Lincoln Beats Gunderson for Their Fourth Straight Win

Lincoln extended their winning streak to four on Thursday, bumping them up to 4-0. They blew past the Gunderson Grizzlies 35-14. The Lions pushed the score to 28-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Grizzlies cut but never quite recovered from.

Lincoln found their leader in sophomore Luca Papoulias, who threw for 154 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 passes.

Lincoln was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 172 rushing yards in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Gunderson fell to 3-1. The loss was their first of the season.

Gunderson's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Cylis Cook, who gained 185 total yards and a touchdown, and Andrew Fernandez, who threw for 251 yards and a pair of TDs. Greg Darling also helped out as he racked up 116 receiving yards.

Coincidentally, Lincoln and Gunderson will both be playing Del Mar the next time they take the field. The Lions will host the Dons at 7:15 p.m. on the 26th, while the Grizzlies will head out to face them at 7:15 p.m. on October 3.
