Baseball Game Preview: Horizon Honors Eagles vs. Camp Verde Cowboys

The Horizon Honors Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Camp Verde Cowboys at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Horizon Honors is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Horizon Honors duked it out with Veritas Prep on Thursday. The Eagles walked away with a 6-3 win over the Falcons. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Horizon Honors saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reid Tworek, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave Tworek a new career-high. Another was Max Miller, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Camp Verde came up short against Fountain Hills on Monday, falling 12-2. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Horizon Honors' win bumped their record up to 10-4-1. As for Camp Verde, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.

Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Horizon Honors has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like Camp Verde struggles in that department as they've averaged .435. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Horizon Honors' way against Camp Verde in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, as Horizon Honors made off with an 11-3 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Cowboys have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
