Softball Recap: Lower Lake's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Lower Lake dropped their record down to 8-10 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 8-0 to the St. Helena Saints. Considering the last time the Trojans couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

As for St. Helena, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-4. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.9 runs.

For St. Helena's part, Tahlia Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. Those 17 strikeouts gave Smith a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Emily Glakeler was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Lower Lake is set to take on their familiar foe Upper Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, St. Helena will face off against rival Middletown at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
