Volleyball Recap: Nixa's Winning Streak Snapped at 13 Games

Nixa and Lafayette squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Nixa had to settle for second. They fell 3-1 to the Lancers. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their 13-game winning streak.

Gwen Kubik paced Nixa's offense, picking up 15 kills. Kubik got some help from Taylor Wood and her 19 assists.

Lafayette's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addy Wiese led the charge by getting 34 digs and two aces. Those 34 digs gave Wiese a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alexa Hastings, who had eight digs and two aces.

Nixa's defeat dropped their record down to 28-10. As for Lafayette, the victory was the 24th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 39-1.

Nixa has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Incarnate Word Academy on the 7th. As for Lafayette, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Lee's Summit North on the 7th.
