Basketball Recap: Orangeburg-Wilkinson Comes Up Short

Orangeburg-Wilkinson had to start their season on the road on Wednesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 62-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sumter Gamecocks. The Bruins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gamecocks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2021.

Defeat or not, Orangeburg-Wilkinson got some senior leadership from Jordan McGahee and Jordan Robins. McGahee dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards, while Robins went 7-for-10 en route to 16 points and seven rebounds. McGahee is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last nine games he's played dating back to last season. Kaleb Jamison was another key player, putting up seven points.

Looking ahead, Orangeburg-Wilkinson will face off against Brookland-Cayce at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sumter, they will be taking part in a tournament against A.C. Flora at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
