Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Addison Trail). They blew past the Proviso West Panthers 13-7 on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Blazers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won eight in a row.

Jonathon Valdez made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has become a key player for Addison Trail: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-8 otherwise. Valdez was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Addison Trail let Casey Carlson and Louie Franczak run wild. Carlson went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Franczak went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those three hits gave Franczak a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trevor Sosin, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Addison Trail was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Addison Trail picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 7-9. As for Proviso West, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Addison Trail and Proviso West could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Blazers will challenge Willowbrook at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (373 vs. 100). Meanwhile, Proviso West (ranked 368th) will meet York (ranked 26th) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
