Softball Game Preview: Canton Preparatory Chargers vs. Anderson Titans

The Canton Preparatory Chargers are taking a road trip to challenge the Anderson Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Canton Preparatory had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Star International Academy on Wednesday. The Chargers blew past the Falcons 14-2. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Zoie Greene was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Canton Preparatory got a massive performance out of Ti'Chaya Cass, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Cass a new career-high. Laila Reid was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

While Anderson didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over Taylor on Thursday. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by eight runs or more this season.

Anderson has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Canton Preparatory, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Canton Preparatory suffered a grim 15-2 defeat to Anderson in their previous meeting on Friday. Can the Chargers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
