Softball Game Preview: Umatilla Bulldogs vs. Mount Dora Christian Academy Bulldogs

Mittie O'Brien made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

O'Brien wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Bates, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base was Bates' first of the season.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Mount Dora Christian Academy and Tavares meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. Mount Dora Christian Academy took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tavares. The matchup marked Mount Dora Christian Academy's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Mount Dora Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Umatilla, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-7.
