Baseball Recap: American Heritage Patriots vs. Altamont Longhorns
American Heritage extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 3-4. They lost 18-3 to the Altamont Longhorns. The Patriots were not able to make up for their defeat to the Longhorns from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.
American Heritage saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adam Lee, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Bennett Jansen also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
As for Altamont, their record now sits at 6-4. Considering they have won six games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
On Altamont's side, Gage Bird made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Bird was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in September of 2024.
In other batting news, Keaton Huff was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. He has become a key player for Altamont: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 3-4 otherwise.
