Basketball Recap: Porter's Chapel Academy Triumphs

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Porter's Chapel Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They managed a 35-30 victory over the Prairie View Academy Spartans. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Spartans last Friday, they had to take a 29-26 loss.

Prairie View Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Briley Lane, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds, and Avery Wellbrink, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards. Those 13 rebounds gave Lane a new career-high. Annabelle Ouellette was another key player, putting up four points.

Porter's Chapel Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Prairie View Academy, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-10.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing River Oaks the next time they take the court. Prairie View Academy will host River Oaks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Porter's Chapel Academy will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th.
