Basketball Recap: Weeki Wachee Takes a Loss

Weeki Wachee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 53-36 bruising from the Belleview Rattlers. That's two games in a row now that the Hornets have lost by exactly 17 points.

When it comes to explaining why Weeki Wachee lost, don't look at Conner Boyle. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Al Johnson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards for Belleview. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in points. Cade Campbell was another key player, putting up ten points.

Weeki Wachee's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Belleview, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Weeki Wachee will challenge Citrus at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Weeki Wachee is facing Citrus at the right time seeing as Citrus is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Belleview, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 53-45 defeat against Meadowbrook Academy on the 9th.
