             Wachusett Regional is 1-9 against Shrewsbury since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Friday. The Wachusett Regional Mountaineers will head out to  face off against the Shrewsbury Colonials  at 9:00  p.m.
 Last Tuesday, Wachusett Regional came up short against Algonquin Regional  and fell  3-1.
 Wachusett Regional started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-19, 25-22,  26-24.
 Despite the  loss, Wachusett Regional had strong showings from  Julia Vettese, who  had 22  digs and five  aces, and  Ari Catalfamo, who  had ten  digs and three  aces. Vettese is  on a roll when it comes to  digs, as she's  now  had 14 or more in the last three games she's  played.
 Even though they lost, Wachusett Regional  was lethal from the service line and  finished the game with 15  aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  served at least 15  aces in three consecutive  matchups.
 Meanwhile, Shrewsbury got the win against Ashland  on Wednesday by a conclusive  3-0.
 A big factor in the win was Shrewsbury's feisty defense: they held Ashland to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-21,  25-17.
 Wachusett Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Shrewsbury, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 8-4.
 Wachusett Regional came up short against Shrewsbury when the teams last played  back in September, falling  3-1. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of  Shrewsbury's  Anna Marderosian, who  had 21  digs and four  aces.
