Basketball Recap: West Oso's Loss Ends 13-Game Winning Streak at Home

West Oso entered their matchup against Flour Bluff on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The West Oso Bears fell 58-46 to the Flour Bluff Hornets. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 270th, while the Hornets are ranked 84th).

Despite the defeat, West Oso had strong showings from Alivia Shaw, who posted 12 points, and Jae'La Hicks, who put up 13 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Shaw has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Milauni Williams, who earned seven points.

Even though they lost, West Oso smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive games.

West Oso's loss ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-5. As for Flour Bluff, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

West Oso wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-12 victory against Zapata on the 28th. As for Flour Bluff, they will take on Gregory-Portland at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday.
