Recap: Fairfax Stampede vs. Cesar Chavez Champions
The Fairfax Stampede were the 58-18 winner over the Cesar Chavez Champions when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Fairfax was dealt a 69-37 defeat at the hands of Cesar Chavez on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Fairfax can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Cesar Chavez is ranked 17th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cesar Chavez to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lakeisha Robinson, who scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds and 7 steals. Robinson is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Ballard, who scored 18 points along with 7 steals.
Fairfax's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Cesar Chavez, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Fairfax will head out on the road to face off against Cibola at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cibola is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Cesar Chavez, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against North at 5:30 p.m.
