Volleyball Game Preview: Rio Rico Hawks vs. Casa Grande Cougars + How To Watch

The Rio Rico Hawks will head out to take on the Casa Grande Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rio Rico has three straight victories, Casa Grande has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Tuesday, Rio Rico got the win against Sunnyside by a conclusive 3-0.

Rio Rico's got stronger as the match went on, holding Sunnyside to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-14, 25-9.

Rio Rico can attribute much of their success to America Navarro, who had five digs and two aces. That's the most aces Navarro has posted over her last five contests.

Navarro wasn't the only good servers: Rio Rico was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Casa Grande lost 3-0 to Catalina Foothills on Thursday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-17, 25-14.

Rio Rico's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Casa Grande, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.

Rio Rico took their victory against Casa Grande in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
