Basketball Game Preview: Ogallala Indians vs. Chase County Longhorns

Ogallala is a perfect 10-0 against Chase County since December of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Indians are taking a road trip to square off against the Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Ogallala is headed out to face Chase County after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Indians claimed a resounding 73-21 win over Minden. The Indians pushed the score to 66-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Whippets had no chance of recovering from.

Ogallala's win on Saturday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sawyer Smith, who shot 67% from the field en route to 15 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds. Smith's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Tanner Decastro was another key player, going 7-for-9 to rack up 17 points along with five boards and four blocks.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Ogallala was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Minden only racked up three.

Meanwhile, Chase County hadn't done well against Sidney recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Longhorns snuck past the Red Raiders with a 42-38 victory. The game was the first time the Longhorns have beaten the Red Raiders on their court since December 13, 2019.

Everything came up roses for Ogallala against Chase County when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 76-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
