Football Recap: Mira Mesa Comes Up Short

Mira Mesa was the 20-19 winner over Cathedral Catholic when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Marauders took a hard 25-6 fall against the Dons on Tuesday. The Marauders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Vyanna Ta threw for 81 yards on only seven passes. Yari Bailey was her top target, picking up 65 receiving yards.

Cathedral Catholic found their leader in sophomore Sabrina Jutronich, who threw for 168 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 75% of her passes.

Mira Mesa's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Cathedral Catholic, their record is now 4-1.

Looking ahead, Mira Mesa will challenge Poway at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cathedral Catholic, they will face off against La Costa Canyon at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Dons 9.8, the Mavericks 9.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
