4A District 6 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Los Lunas extended the longest winning streak in 4A District 6 this week by beating Miyamura, 58-8. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
The Patriots' Zach Shank and Jared Meese have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Shank has thrown for 2085 yards this season, while Meese has 40 catches for 495 yards. Belen's Xavi Armijo leads the league in rushing yards with 1021.
Los Lunas' Jalen Chavez needs only 61 yards against Valencia next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 92 carries Chavez has accumulated 939 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Eagles take on Grants. Belen is in second place, while the Pirates are in third place.
Jeremy Newton's team led 4A District 6 in scoring this week after putting up 58 points on Miyamura.
