Soccer Game Preview: Central Woodstock vs. Clarke County

Central Woodstock hasn't had much luck against Clarke County recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Falcons will take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Central Woodstock has three straight victories, Clarke County has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Last Wednesday, Central Woodstock made easy work of Page County and carried off a 5-1 win. Fans of Central Woodstock have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 3+ goals.

Meanwhile, Clarke County didn't have quite enough to beat Sherando on Tuesday and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, Clarke County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Sherando are ranked 27th).

Clarke County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Central Woodstock, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Central Woodstock might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Clarke County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
